Was out with the Plein Air of Washington Club in the incredibly beautiful Bloedel Reserve on Bainbridge Island, in Washington State. It was an unusually warm day and I has hot, thirsty and ready to pack up and go. As I was leaving I saw the most amazing light filtering through the Moss Garden. I unpacked and setup again to quickly catch that special scene in soft pastel. I think this is my favorite plein air painting because it reminds me how amazing light and shadow can play off each other in the forest.
