Silkie Chicks

Watercolor of five baby silkie chicks in a wooden cheese box. I brought the baby chicks and mother hen into the studio during the coldest weeks of winter. I let them out daily to play and observed them. I began to formulate a composition to paint them in the soft light from the studio window. They love to perch in boxes, and of course eat, so the poses were quite natural.
