Hong Kong Lighthouse on Green Island

This year I am living in Hong Kong as an American relocatee and plein air painting as often as I can. After I first saw this small island en route to another one, I wanted to paint it, which was a strategic problem. The sea ferry goes past it in a few minutes and I wanted to understand it better for my painting. I travelled repeatedly on the same sea ferry around the same time each day, to study light and to see this small island's details (no ferry stops there). The multiple ferry trips taken were to observe its old lighthouse, the varied vegetation, the rocks and also to observe the mountains in the horizon and the colors of the sea and the sky. After doing some quick sketches and taking a few photographs, I painted my observations.
