Welcome

“Welcome” was painted in soft pastels on UArt paper. Inspiration for the painting was a pair of pots brimming with colorful flowers and foliage positioned near the doorway of a shop in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The contrast of strong sunlight vs. shadow was riveting, as were the happy colors, so much so that I almost altered my plans, just to satisfy my curiosity to see the interior of the shop. But instead I snapped a photo and continued with my plans. That photo was used to recreate the happy and inquisitive feeling that I experienced.
