Oil on canvas painted from a photo taken in the Helmand province of Afghanistan during an excruciating firefight. My combat military scenes are something special to me for many reasons. When I share them on social media it always seems to get me in touch with my old Marine friends I haven't talked to in years. Painting these scenes also helps me to cope with my own PTSD and face difficult memories head on by painting them. That spent-hot round you see flying through the air can be looked at a metaphor for all combat veteran's who served a once served a purpose but are now left in the dirt and often forgotten about. May we never forget those who bravely served this great nation with honor.
