8x16 Oil on board. This painting created Nov 13th 2018 in Point Pinole Richmond. The smoke from the Butte County Camp Fire had made its way down to the Bay Area (+/- 200mi distance) and I needed to wear a mask. This wasn’t a precaution, I needed the mask. It might have been slightly irresponsible to be out, but the muted colors on the landscape intrigued me. The fire started Nov 8th and by the 13th, 125,000 acres were burning. It was the deadliest and most destructive wildfire in Ca history. The 2018 wildfire season was the deadliest and most destructive wildfire season on record in Ca, with a total of 8,527 fires.
