Distant Cathedral

I painted this en plein air on the west side of the airport hiking trail in Sedona, AZ. My friends continued on the hike while I sat down and painted this view. Something about those distant mesas seemed otherworldly, holy even. It was only later that I learned it was Cathedral Rock, and I said, "Aha! So that's why!" I'm rather happy to have captured blinding desert sunlight. I think it adds a nice glow.
